Why you Should NEVER Do A FUT Hair Transplant

FUT is an old process of hair transplants. I did this hair transplant when FUE was not available. Few hair transplant surgeons still do this hair transplant in India. FUT Hair transplant cost is much cheaper than FUE hair transplant in India. Patients are unaware of FUT technique. FUT is extremely painful. FUT Clinics use Terms like terms like No Scar, Damage of grafts in FUE, Trichophytic Closure, etc. These are used to misguide patients. The worst is they tell to combine FUT with FUE to convince.

Nobody should get painful lifetime scar. Most of the patients are told that there are no scar and trichophytic closure will be done. But most of the patient with trichophytic closure I have seen still has bad and widened scar. Its not that hair Don’t grow with FUT but in the world of minimally invasive why such invasive and Brutal Procedure is required. All surgeries are No stitch now then why surgery 20 stitches is promoted.

Its also a misnomer which FUT clinics say about graft damage in FUE.Infact FUE is a procedure where there is no graft damage if DOCTOR is ready to spend time on surgery. FUE Grafts will either come out and be used in transplant. If they are transacted the root will remain in the scalp and will grow back. So either it will come out or will grow back in scalp. Doctors doing extraction by there own hands will never damage grafts beyond permissible limits. Also imagine 20-25 stitches on the scalp with all blood vessels and nerves cut down till bone in FUT vs Small needle pricks in the skin only which heals overnight.

Patients looking for Best hair transplant procedure should always visit both clinics which do FUE and FUT. Visiting only one Doctor will not let you make the right decision. 99% of clinics worldwide have accepted FUE. At the monaris hair clinic, we stopped FUT completely. We support a painless FUE hair transplant procedure.

ROBOTIC HAIR TRANSPLANT

Let me give you a surprise….THERE IS NO ROBOT FOR HAIR TRANSPLANT IN INDIA

what prompted me to write this article is when i saw a big ad in Indian news paper about ROBOTIC HAIR TRANSPLANT.I tried to find out then came to know that this is the same company which was advertising about some other technique last year. They closed the shop and came up with new name this year.Indians  gets attracted by fancy names and fancy ads.where the world knows only two technique FUT and FUE Indian companies and clinic comes every month with new technique and names. With every new ad the hope raises in patients that something new has come up in the world for hair transplant.Patient are fleeced left right and center.

Lets know the truth about robotic hair transplant.

ARTAS system is one of the tool which has assisted surgeons in follicular extraction.I will call it a half robot as it can only help surgeon in extraction but rest of the procedure is dependent on surgeon skills.

There is a machine called NEOGRAFT which assists in graft extraction but its not a  ROBOT.This machine was launched in India long time back as MEDIKAMET and then withdrawn.Later it came with the name of NEOGRAFT

ARTAS, NeoGraft- they are not a procedure, merely a tool used to obtain hair grafts that then need to be transplanted into the scalp properly by the surgeon and his team in order to achieve an aesthetic result.

So what are these so called Indian robots. They are motorized tools to be held in hand and which assists surgeon in graft extraction.None of these procedures can do 4000 grafts extraction in one go which experienced hands can do.

Patients should be aware of these kind of tricks. They can safeguard themselves only by doing due research before going to any clinic. Please do not fall prey of ads like UNLIMITED HAIR,ROBOTIC HAIR TRANSPLANT,some NEW TECHNOLOGY,PHOTO SHOPPED before and after photos,Cheap hair transplants etc.

HOW TO CHOOSE BEST HAIR TRANSPLANT IN INDIA

HOW TO CHOOSE BEST HAIR TRANSPLANT IN INDIA

It’s a task now days to choose a hair transplant clinic anywhere in world. So many doctors, so many clinics, everyday a news paper ad claiming some revolutionary technique. This article will make life somewhat easier for the people who are trying to get hair transplant surgeries.

One important thing to remember that there are only and only two techniques in this world for hair transplant FUT or STRIP and FUE.Yes there is no third technique in this world. So first decide what you are looking for FUT or FUE.FUT involves cuts, stitches, stretching on the neck and is more invasive and I believe will be extinct in another 5 years. Most of the doctors now practice FUE but still some old doctor’s practice FUT.

I will talk about FUE now. After choosing the technique it’s important to choose clinic. In India hair transplant is divided in 3 categories.

1. Organized international chains-AlviArmani and 2 others

2. Organized Indian chains-Lot of new and very Few old

3. Unorganized Indian doctors clinic-Many and everyday new.

If you choose

1.organized international chains

Look carefully are they into hair transplant or they are doing other things also. Is hair transplant their main work or they do multiple things. Prefer a clinic whose main work globally is hair transplant. It’s important that these clinics invest lot of money in research and developing new techniques. No company in India invests in research. All in india mostly learn or try to copy them and are usually 5 years behind them.

Second important thing is who the surgeon there is. Remember best technique and instruments are waste without a good surgeon. Avoid meeting sales people in any clinics. Sales people can promise you world but it may not be reality. A surgeon will always guide you honestly. Avoid clinics that do not let you meet the surgeon.

Read about your surgeon and make sure he only does your surgery. You pay money for the surgeon and not anyone to do your surgery. Also remember original painting will always cost you more than copy of it.

2 organized Indian chains. See how old they are into transplants and how their work is. Meet some of their clients. Is their centre franchise or company operated. Meet the surgeon and get and idea. Be careful as there are many chains that show running many centers in India and abroad but actually they don’t exist. You may not get the best of technology but it can be cheaper.

3. Unorganized individual doctors and clinics-

This is something that you have to be most careful. Most of the doctors and clinics are just started after the boom of hair transplant in 2011.

95% of the doctors are part time hair transplant doctors and do very few cases every month. Prefer a full time doctor exclusively into hair transplants with minimum 5 years of experience. They will be much cheaper than other two above.

Whatever you choose remember that once you do a transplant it’s for life. I have done lot of hair transplant repair including the famous fashion designer jattinn kochhar but you end up paying much more money and time to correct bad transplant. So choose wisely. When you buy a car you don’t look at the cheapest. You look for the best you can afford. If you are not interested in doing all the research then there is a easy way to find what you want. Check what phone you are carrying. If its apple, Samsung or sony, choose option 1(Organized international chains), if you have lavaa or carbon then choose option 2(Organized Indian chains), and if you have some assembled phone bought from nearest phone shop then choose option 3(Unorganized Indian doctors clinic). All phone works and you can talk with them but you understand the difference. There is no possibility for upgradation or changing bad transplant. So in hair transplant don’t look at the cost. Look at the best you can afford.

Cell Compositions and Methods for Hair Follicle Generation

On April 8 2011, Alvi Armani filed for US patent on Hair Multiplication& Regeneration.Where people are talking about it nowadays and calling it new technology , Alvi Armani has already done research in 2011.

Below is the brief description about the Patent :

The application describes a method of generating a hair follicle, comprising administering a composition comprising epidermal matrix cells, dermal papilla cells, dermal sheath cells and outer root sheath cells to the scalp of a mammal. The composition may optionally be administered with a hair growth agent and/or a carrier. The application also describes a composition comprising epidermal matrix cells, dermal papilla cells, dermal sheath cells and outer root sheath cells and the use of the composition to generate hair follicles.

DESCRIPTION

CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS This non-provisional application claims priority from U.S. provisional application US 61/353,272 filed on Jun. 10, 2010, which is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety.

FIELD

The application relates to compositions and methods for generating hair follicles. In particular, the application relates to implanting in vitro-cultivated hair follicle cells into a scalp to generate and rejuvenate hair follicles in a subject suffering from hair loss.

BACKGROUND

Hair loss affects millions of people, including over 40% of men over the age of 30. Numerous factors can cause hair loss, including genetic predisposition, autoimmune reactions, scarring, diseases and infection. Hair loss can ultimately lead to complete baldness.

Alopecia is a medical condition in which hair is lost from an area of the body. One symptom of alopecia is hair follicle miniaturization (described below). Alopecia includes both androgenetic alopecia, also known as male pattern baldness, and alopecia areata, which is thought to be an autoimmune disorder.

Normally, a hair follicle cycles through phases including the anagen (growth) phase, the catagen (transition) phase and the telogen (resting or quiescent) phase. In the miniaturization process, the hair follicle enters a prolonged lag phase following the telogen stage. With successive anagen cycles, the follicles become smaller, leading to shorter, finer hair. The miniaturized follicle eventually produces a tiny hair shaft that is cosmetically insignificant. Ultimately, the follicle can stop producing a hair shaft altogether and the area of hair loss can become completely devoid of hair.

Several methods for treating hair loss are available, including drugs such as topical minoxidil and orally-delivered propecia. However, these treatments have achieved limited success in restoring natural hair growth and are only effective while the drugs are being taken.

One surgical treatment for hair loss is hair follicle transplantation, a procedure in which hair follicles are transplanted from a non-balding region of the scalp to a region of hair loss.

Alternatives to hair follicle transplantation are cell-based therapies whereby cells are implanted with the goal of developing new hair follicles. For example, U.S. Pat. No. 4,919,664 to Oliver et al. relates to a method of stimulating hair growth in the skin of a mammal by culturing at least one lower follicular dermal cell, and implanting the cultured cells in the epidermis. U.S. Pat. No. 6,399,057 to Gho describes a method of regenerating hair by: (1) removing hair in the anagen phase, (2) culturing hair follicle cells, and (3) implanting the cultured cells into bald regions. In addition, U.S. Patent Application No. 2007/0128172 to Yoshizato et al. describes the transplantation of cultured dermal papilla cells, dermal sheath cells and epidermal cells into the skin to regenerate hair. In Wu et al. (2006), cultured dermal papilla cells were mixed with outer root sheath cells and transplanted on the dorsal skin of nude mice to induce hair follicle and hair fiber formation.

There remains a need for efficient, cell-based therapies for rejuvenating miniaturized hair follicles and generating new hair follicles.

The top 10 myths about hair transplants

Many techniques which one to choose

Technically there are only two types of hair transplant.FUT and FUE.Rest all are the variants of the same. It’s important to understand which one is best for you.

So many companies and doctors which one to choose

Advanced hair transplants are like art and not like surgery.Choose a good doctor for you surgery and make sure he only does whole surgery for you.

Hair transplants can fall out.

Follicular units are impossible to dislodge after the first day when the healing mechanisms have set in. In the first 24 hours, follicular units are kept in place by tiny blood clots which are strong enough to withstand most forces but it is important to take it easy during this period.

People will be able to tell that you’ve had a hair transplant.

The principle of transplanting hair as follicular units (which is the most basic natural grouping of hair) allows the transplanted hair to follow the patterns of native hair giving a natural result. Even a soft hair-line can be achieved using single follicular unit grafts to blend the area seamlessly

FUE is better than FUT or the strip technique.

There are advantages and disadvantages of both treatments. No single study comparing cosmetic results, graft take or patient satisfaction exists.

Transplanted hair requires extra care.

In fact, transplanted hair can be treated like normal, and be cut, dyed and styled as you would otherwise.

Hair transplants look ‘pluggy

They used to but, now advanced individual follicular units can be transplanted to give a softer natural look.

Any one with hair loss can have a hair transplant.

This is a common misconception. Certain attributes need to be met before hair transplantation is feasible. This includes having a known, stable or predictable pattern of hair loss, availability of enough donor hairs, good skin elasticity and good healing potential. Suitability for hair transplantation can only be accessed after a consultation with a hair restoration surgeon.

Hair from another person can be used.

Unfortunately, someone else’s hair would be rejected and only hair from the same individual can be used..

The results from a hair transplant are immediate

It is common for transplanted follicular units to shed hair a month after surgery. The follicular units then enter anagen, such that you should be able to see hair growth in the mirror at about 4 months. The final results of a hair transplant take 12 months to become fully appreciable.

It is better to have the transplant the younger you are.

Part of performing hair restoration surgery is to predict future loss and to make sure the transplant you have will blend in with this. Otherwise, you could be left isolated areas of transplanted hair in an area that continues to bald which would look odd and unnatural. The future pattern of hair loss is much easier to determine in individuals who are over 30. That said, transplants can and are done in younger individuals but this varies on a case by case basis
