Recently got a message from a patient asking about the MHI technique.I told him I never heard about it. Then he asked about BioFUE.I said again don’t know about it but should be something related to FUE.I told him I know only two techniques for hair transplant one FUT and the other FUE. India and Indian hair transplant clinics are fascinated by new names for hair transplants. It’s a general feeling that if anything other than FUE is told to patients they will think it’s some new discovery. So now every clinic has its own name to FUE.so DHI, robotic, MHI, BioFUE, bio stimulated FUE, FUSE,I perfect,AHT are all Same and derived from FUE only. All international companies have their own researched modification of FUE but it doesn’t make it some other technology.
Most of the clinics which are transparent will inform their clients and will not charge differently for different FUE. Like Alvi Armani, some of the clinics add PRP to their procedures on demand of patients free of cost. The role of PRP in hair transplant is still questionable.
Above patient has undergone hair transplant single session single day 3634 Grafts. The above results are post 9 months. With alviarmani specialized instruments upto 5000 Grafts can be done in single day.Where most FUE has 20% or more Transaction rate (Graft cut or damage during extraction) Alvi Armani’s latest research in FUE and instrumentation has brought it down to near Zero.As a result more and more grafts can be extracted and implanted in single day. Most of the hair transplant clinics in India do 3000 grafts in 2 days which is not medically recommended and patients has to under go twice the trauma of anesthesia and whole procedure wasting time and money.Call us at +919818642643 or write at firstname.lastname@example.org to know more .
Dr Baubac and alviarmani has been awarded as No.1 hair transplant surgeon in India 2015 by AESTHETIC EVERYTHING.He is ranked No.1 amongst the top 10 hair transplant surgeons of America. The top 10 list also includes Hair transplant surgeons like Dr. Bauman, Dr Bernstein, Dr. Rousso and many more.Dr Arihant Surana Medical Director Alviarmani India has worked very closely with Dr Baubac and Dr Antonio Armani for last 9 years in India and USA to innovate and bring latest hair transplant techniques to the world.
This proves the Alvi Armani’s commitment to provide best technologies and Best surgeons in any country. Alvi Armani philosophy of limiting itself to best surgeon in any country by careful selection process and limited surgical centers to have adequate quality control has made it Best hair transplant company in world.
In a country like India where every company is focusing on selling out franchise and trying to reduce cost by compromising on quality ,alviarmani is still maintaining the global standards as followed in any alviarmani clinic around the world. That’s the reason every transplant of alviarmani is amazing.Every surgery is done by alviarmani doctor and not the technicians.
Amit Mishra the famous leg spinner of the Indian cricket team underwent his hair transplant at Monaris hair Delhi clinic. It’s interesting to see someone able to play live cricket without a cap with a full head of hair after a hair transplant. Unlike the photos of celebrities or Bollywood stars who always wear makeup and hair fiber to hide their baldness after hair transplant Amit Mishra’s hair were actually real and free from any makeup and camouflage. He is now part of the test series and I wish him all the luck. Few of his before and after photos of real high-density hair transplant.
Which clinic Amit Mishra did His hair transplant
Amit Mishra hair transplant was done by Dr.Arihant Surana at Monaris hair clinic (previously Alviarmani) in New Delhi. Amit Mishra and top cricketers have chosen Dr.Arihant Surana due to his vast experience in FUE hair transplant and consistent results. Dr.Surana has been treating most of the top cricketers of Indian cricket team for their hair loss issues since 2008.
How successful is Amit Mishra Hair transplant
Amit Mishra hair transplant has been extremely successful. His untouched photos after 9 months of hair transplant are now available. You can see them in above images. Dr.Arihant Surana believes that every patient can get good result if the main surgeon does the surgery himself.
How times amit mishra did his transplant
Amit Mishra did his transplant twice. 1st was done at DHI when Dr.Surana was medical head of DHI hair transplant in 2010. It was few grafts in hairline. 2nd session was done at Monaris alviarmani clinic in Newdelhi in 2014 by Dr.arihant Surana.
Let me give you a surprise….THERE IS NO ROBOT FOR HAIR TRANSPLANT IN INDIA
what prompted me to write this article is when i saw a big ad in Indian news paper about ROBOTIC HAIR TRANSPLANT.I tried to find out then came to know that this is the same company which was advertising about some other technique last year. They closed the shop and came up with new name this year.Indians gets attracted by fancy names and fancy ads.where the world knows only two technique FUT and FUE Indian companies and clinic comes every month with new technique and names. With every new ad the hope raises in patients that something new has come up in the world for hair transplant.Patient are fleeced left right and center.
Lets know the truth about robotic hair transplant.
ARTAS system is one of the tool which has assisted surgeons in follicular extraction.I will call it a half robot as it can only help surgeon in extraction but rest of the procedure is dependent on surgeon skills.
There is a machine called NEOGRAFT which assists in graft extraction but its not a ROBOT.This machine was launched in India long time back as MEDIKAMET and then withdrawn.Later it came with the name of NEOGRAFT
ARTAS, NeoGraft- they are not a procedure, merely a tool used to obtain hair grafts that then need to be transplanted into the scalp properly by the surgeon and his team in order to achieve an aesthetic result.
So what are these so called Indian robots. They are motorized tools to be held in hand and which assists surgeon in graft extraction.None of these procedures can do 4000 grafts extraction in one go which experienced hands can do.
Patients should be aware of these kind of tricks. They can safeguard themselves only by doing due research before going to any clinic. Please do not fall prey of ads like UNLIMITED HAIR,ROBOTIC HAIR TRANSPLANT,some NEW TECHNOLOGY,PHOTO SHOPPED before and after photos,Cheap hair transplants etc.
LOOK FOR THE SURGEON,LOOK FOR THE SURGEON AND CLINIC EXPERIENCE,MEET THE SURGEON AFTER DUE RESEARCH,GET THE ENTIRE SURGERY DONE FROM THE SURGEON
This is the most common question I hear from my patients now a days. If I say 3500 grafts the next question is the clinic A has said me 2000, clinic D has said me 3000 hairs(1500 grafts) and clinic C has said me 2500.Why there is so much variation?
Let’s calculate how many grafts are required for a good density for any hair transplant. We have a normal density of 70-100 grafts per sq.cm.Looking at this we may have 50-75000 grafts (not hairs) in the entire scalp. Let’s assume that you have lost ZONE 1(first 2cm of front hair line) and ZONE 2 (next 5 cm of hair line).
To calculate the number of grafts needed you have to know the area which is empty. To calculate the hair line density for first two cms measure the area from left to right of the hair line. Usually it’s between 14-18 cms. If we take a average of 16 cms the area becomes (16×2) ie 32 sq cms. Now look at the density which you need. I recommend 50-70 grafts per sq cm for hair line including temple closure as that’s what will decide your hair transplant results. So a good dense hairline will need somewhere between 1900-2200(density neededx32) grafts.
Now look at the ZONE 2 which is another 5 cms behind it. We usually don’t need a density of 60-70 grafts per sq cm in zone 2.But even a density of35- 40 grafts per sq cms will consume 1500 -2000 grafts. So even you have hair loss in front two zones you will need somewhere between 3500-4000 grafts for good density.
Creating good density is also and an art and will vary from surgeon to surgeon.Angles at which grafts are placed, distribution of grafts; placement density will all decide the final results.
ANYTHING LESS THAN 3000 GRAFTS (5000-6000 HAIRS) WILL NOT GIVE GOOD DENSITY IN HAIR TRANSPLANT.
3000 grafts is an easy job in hands of a good surgeon. Surgeons with very low transaction rate (follicles cut at the time of extraction) can extract 3000-4000 grafts in less than 4 hours.
Inference is that if you are looking for hair transplant plan it with due research. In India there is trend for calling hair as grafts. Check for number of grafts (approx 2 hair per graft).
Never divide your procedure in two or three days. This can affect results as little swelling on scalp on next day of your procedure can change the angle of the new transplant later.Continous trauma and anesthesia is also not good for the already placed hair. Wait for at least 6 months before repeating the procedure
CHOI implanter is a small instrument used for hair transplant by few people around the world. I decided to try and see is it really a great instrument.
The device was a small pen with18 or 19 gauge needle fixed in the front. The graft has to be loaded in the front of this needle and the needle is used to create hole and implant the graft simultaneously. Used these instruments for few years and found that it is not a great instrument to be used in hair transplant. It’s much better to create recipient sites and implant compared to using implanter. I had following observation while using this instrument
1. It doesn’t change the procedure anyway in fact makes it more complicated. Ultimately a needle makes a hole and pushes the graft in the hole.
2. Its difficult to load grafts with multiple hairs without any friction or rubbing the follicles around the wall. Grafts without multiple hairs affect results.
3. A good perifollicular tissue is critical for the survival of the grafts. It’s difficult to load the graft in implanter with little extra tissue. It usually gets peeled off while loading.
4. Using the implanter was good for 1200 to 1500 grafts but it is almost impossible to do 3000-4000 grafts session with implanter.
5. Its difficult to create exact angles as the there is complete movement of hand to pick each and every graft loaded in implanter.
5. The needles remains ok for first few 100 grafts but as the needle gets blunt the force to push needle to create incision increases and there is huge popping of grafts. Changing the needle after every few hundred grafts is a costly affair.
6. Grafts cannot be transplanted very closely due to pressure created by the needle gets transferred to nearby follicles leading to pop up of existing follicles. This leads to the poor results and may need multiple sessions.
7. The implanter has to be disposable but cost doesn’t allow that. So usually needles are disposed and the plastic body is reused.
8. Single person has to work in scalp which increases the time required for the surgery.
9. The quality of implanter varies from manufacturer to manufacturer and those available in India are the worst.
P.S.These are my personal opinion and observation and may vary from others
Hair has become an important part in a normal Indian male and female. As every Indian want to look fair similarly every Indian want to have beautiful thick hair. This shows from the way that Indian hair oil industry is a multibillion dollar industry. Medically whatever we can say but fact is that every Indian uses hair oil some or the other time in their life.
Indian hair transplant industry has also grown many folds in last 8 years. I remembered the days when ever hair transplant was talked about people only thought about salman khan and dubai.Things changed drastically over years. International companies set up chains and celebrities like sehwag, gautam gambhir and amit mishra openly showing and talking about hair transplant. I feel lucky see all that change happening. With the celebrity endorsing the hair transplant every Indian felt that this is real treatment for hair loss in between many magic treatments people were doing to grow their hair.
Suddenly hair transplant in India became a routine procedure and people started trusting Indian doctors and companies. Being a population 1.2 billion sometimes it was waiting of 3-6 months to get a hair transplant from the doctor of your choice.
From 2010 the unorganized hair transplant industry started getting more organized and divided into international, Indian companies and individual doctors for hair transplant. Hair transplant became the part of course in medical scools.By 2013 lot of new doctors started the hair transplant. With Strip getting less popular FUE became the procedure of choice for almost every Indian. This also shifted the hair transplant moving from the hands of plastic surgeons to dermatologist.
This industry is still growing at a rapid phase. Even doctors in smaller towns and cities are trying to get into hair transplant.
India still lacks the adequate infrastructure and research facilities in this field. Training is almost absent in this field. Lack of training facilities makes YOU TUBE and INTERNET the only learning facility. This brings extra advantage to international companies.Their investment in research, adequate infrastructure and continuous training makes them 5 years ahead in hair transplant industry.
Now I would say Indian hair transplant industry is in chaos. Everyday newspaper is filled with small and big ads with really funny new techniques for hair transplant. Patients are now confused what to do when it comes to hair transplant. Making decision is not easy. Every clinic claims themselves to be the best and latest technology despite of the fact that there is no other technique documented in medical literature other than FUT (strip) and FUE. World is still researching but in India you will see people advertising and claiming hair multiplication and hair cloning.
I feel the biggest mistake Indian patients make is not doing research. A fancy term used and brilliant sales person at the fancy clinics can sell anything. In my next articles I will also talk about the fancy term used to sell a hair transplant and how to safeguard yourself.
